Kirkham Treasures have published a fascinating collection of oral histories from individuals who have lived most of their lives in the Kirkham and Wesham area, giving insight into the characters, places and ways of life that they've known and which have shaped the community.
The collection has been loosely organised into the themes of Growing Up, Working Life, Wartime, the High Street, and Going Out in Kirkham & Wesham. Each theme features the memories and recollections of residents as they talk about their experiences living in the area.
If you or someone you know would like to add the collection, an audio recorder and oral history kit can be found at Kirkham Library. More information can be found on the Kirkham Treasures website.
A new programme inspired by the former Roman presence in Kirkham and Wesham and funded through a cooperative partnership will be bringing the past back to life and giving the community the opportunity to get involved in art and archaeology projects.
Please be advised that as part of the planned 'Kirkham Public Realm' works, Traffic Signals will be required in the town centre from Monday 22nd May 2023. This traffic management is required to complete new drainage connections into the existing combined drain running along Poulton Street. The works will be in 4 separate areas as can be seen on the drawing attached, and it is anticipated that there will be 2 days work in each area.
