Advanced Warning of Works on Poulton Street

A message from Eric Wright Civil Engineering:

Please be advised that excavation works will continue between Nos. 30-20 Poulton Street from Monday 3rd April 2023. Whilst we have experienced some delays starting the paving works in the area from No. 4-16, it is now the intention to complete the northern half of the pavement as one starting No. 30 (Old Bank) through to No. 4 (Travel Agents). The sequence will be as follows:

  • Excavation at Old Bank & Tap & Vent Bar (Monday 3rd April to Tuesday 11th April)
  • Paving at Old Bank & Tap & Bent Bar (12th to 18th April 2023)
  • Paving Travel Agent to No. 16 (19th to 25th April)
  • New kerbs and paving east side of Birley Street (commence 24th April - 2 weeks)
  • Commence southern section of pavement (27th April 2023)
  • Nos. 30-20 including new kerbs, paving and installation of tree pits (3-4 weeks)
  • Nos. 30-20 including new kerbs, paving and installation of tree pits (3-4 weeks)

A new programme inspired by the former Roman presence in Kirkham and Wesham and funded through a cooperative partnership will be bringing the past back to life and giving the community the opportunity to get involved in art and archaeology projects.

Please be advised that as part of the planned 'Kirkham Public Realm' works, Traffic Signals will be required in the town centre from Monday 22nd May 2023. This traffic management is required to complete new drainage connections into the existing combined drain running along Poulton Street. The works will be in 4 separate areas as can be seen on the drawing attached, and it is anticipated that there will be 2 days work in each area.
